ABSTRACT

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the level of knowledge regarding computer vision syndrome and its prevention among collegiate students attending online classes during COVID-19 pandemic. Method(s): The online electronic survey form was prepared on the Google app. The collegiatestudents were asked to respond to the questions asked, which had 2 part, part 1 consist of socio demographic variables, part 2 consist of questions related to CVS and its prevention. Total number of 100 samples were participated in this study, their responses were recorded in google sheet. The analysis have done by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result(s): Onehundred college students responded to the questionnaire. The minimum score out of 20 was two and maximum score was 15, the mean value is 8.12, SD was 2.520. Out of 100 sample, approximately 25 percentage of collegiatestudents alone had more than 50% of knowledge on CVS and its prevention, the majority of 75 percentage of college students had less than 50% of knowledge on CVS and its prevention. The most common digital device used were smartphones (n = 86, 86%). Conclusion(s): Majority of the collegiate students do not have even 50% of knowledge about CVS and its prevention. ABSTRACT

Background: COVID-increases risk of DKA and poor outcomes in patients with diabetes. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted of 4,959 DKA admissions from 1/1/2019-12/31/2021 at our hospital system. EHR data was collected on consecutive admissions coded with DKA for clinical characteristics, hospital outcomes of length of stay (LOS) , 30day readmission (30d RADM) and mortality. Data was analyzed for differences stratified by year 20vs. 2020 and 2021, and by COVID-infection. Results: Compared to 2019, patients in 2020 were older, more Hispanic and had CHF. Compared to 2019, patients in 2021 had less HTN and kidney disease but similar rates of CHF;Table 1. Mortality and LOS were higher for 2020 and 2021 while 30d RADM was lower;Table 2. Conclusion: Despite advancements in COVID-treatments, DKA patients have progressively poorer outcomes.

ABSTRACT

Background:The new pandemic caused by COVID-19 (SARS CoV-2) originated at Wuhan, China became the public health crisis throughout the globe. Susceptibility to this airborne infection is low in children when compared to adults due to nonspecific protection resulting from recent infection by other respiratory viruses, which children experiences more frequently than adults. Age is the most important factor in diminishing one’s chance to survive COVID -19 especially after 60 years of age as comorbidities also play a role. Methods:Reverse transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction testing (RT-PCR) was done on nasopharyngeal swab speci- mens from persons with respiratory illness attending at SRRIT & CD Hyderabad during 6 months period from May 2020 to October 2020. Results:A total of 4617 samples were tested by RT-PCR of which 1722(37%) shows positive results for COVID-19. 1056 (61.3%) were males and 666 (38.7%) were females. Highest positive rate was noted in month of June 528(11.4%) fol- lowed by July, August, September & October which are 8.6%, 6.8%. 5.3%, 3.2% respectively. Male preponderance was seen in 31-45 years of age group while it is 16-30 years in females. Conclusions:The clinical features and prognosis of the disease vary among patients of different ages and a thorough assessment of age may help clinicians to establish risk stratification for all COVID-19 patients
